Volunteers are not giving up on the petition effort to put recreational marijuana on the ballot. Many were disappointed when petition organizers from Green the Vote announced they had inflated the petition signatures to reflect success when they were actually behind the goal numbers.

“It’s a little disappointing especially to the people who were wanting it, really looking forward to it. It is disappointing to those people, and sad to hear but I hope it keeps going,” explained Amanda Ngiraibiochell, from Nirvana Smokes and Gifts, which carried the petition for customers to sign.

Other volunteers traveled to Tulsa to deliver their signatures. Rhonda Bivans traveled from Lawton and spent the day, helping with the last ditch effort to gather as many signatures as possible.

“I was disappointed. But I am not going to let my emotions and my disappointment stop what Oklahomans want,” said Bivans.
