TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) -- Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler has filed documents showing his intent to seek the death penalty for a man charged with strangling a young woman inside her south Tulsa apartment earlier this year.

Greg Epperson is charged with first-degree murder and assault and battery with intent to kill.

Police say Epperson broke into 19-year-old Kelsey Tennant's apartment hear 65th and Mingo in March. She surprised him when she came home.

Police say Epperson beat and strangled her, then assaulted Tennant's boyfriend when he returned home.

Epperson was arrested in an adjacent apartment.

Both Tennant and her boyfriend were taken to the hospital but she died from her injuries.

Police say the victims didn't know Epperson.
