Stillwater police: One person dead after early morning shooting

The Stillwater Police Department reports the victim of a shooting early Sunday morning has died.

SPD Public Information Officer Cpt. Kyle Gibbs said, in a release, the victim, identified as Jared Roybal, 23, of Tonkowa, was driven to a convenience store in the 600 block of E. 6th Ave. about 1:45 a.m. by his brother. The brother asked to clerk to call 911. Roybal was taken to the Stillwater Medical Center in critical condition, then taken to Oklahoma City's OU Medical Center where he died.

Investigators learned Roybal and his brother were driving in the 3100 block of E. Raintree Dr. when they came upon an altercation between two men. The brothers stopped, one of the people involved in the argument then drove away. Another person involved in the argument, identified as Darwin Lonestar Marcel Doyal, 29 of Stillwater, began yelling at Roybal. Roybal started to respond when Doyal pulled a gun and shot himl in the neck.

Doyal was arrested on a charge of murder and taken to the Stillwater Police Department jail.
