A child is one of the most recent victims of a deadly flu season in Oklahoma.
The Oklahoma State Department of Health says 153 people have now died from the flu this season, breaking last year's record of 130 deaths. A child between the ages of 5 and 17 from Oklahoma County was among the most recent victims, the first child to die from the flu this season.
More than 3,400 people have been hospitalized for flu-related reasons since flu season began, according to OSDH.
Of the 153 reported deaths, 29 occurred in Tulsa County. Oklahoma County has seen 22 deaths and 587 hospitalizations this season.
OSDH is offering free flu vaccinations statewide at county health departments.
