TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — Tulsa police arrested a mother and daughter Friday evening after they allegedly vandalized a car and assaulted a man with machetes.
Officers received a 911 call, saying a woman was breaking the windows of her car near Pine and North Harvard. Before police arrived on scene, she called back saying her "husband was gushing blood and had possibly been shot in the head."
TPD later learned the man had not been shot, but was assaulted with a machete. The victim sustained a laceration on his head, defensive cuts on both hands and a deep gash across his lower leg, but is expected to be OK.
Witnesses told police the suspects were two women who left the scene on bicycles. The women, later identified as Jennifer and Chamelle Malone, were found nearby with blood on their clothing. They each also had a machete, according to police.
Police learned the victim and his family were visiting with friends at that location. While everyone was inside, the women began vandalizing his car. When he went outside to investigate, the women attacked him with machetes.
The victim was able to run inside his friend's home and the suspects ran away.
The homeowner told police the women were his ex-girlfriend and her daughter.
Officers said the women had intended to assault the homeowner, and the victim was assaulted in a case of mistaken identity.
Surveillance video showed both women assaulting the victim.
Jennifer and Chamelle Malone were arrested and booked into the Tulsa County Jail and are each facing an assault with a deadly weapon charge.
