Police say one person is dead after a crash involving an SUV and a school bus in north Tulsa.

It happened around noon near Pine and 129th. Police say the SUV had pallets illegally stacked on its top and started to lose control, swerving into the oncoming school bus and crashing into it nearly head-on.

Firefighters had to use the jaws of life to free the driver of the SUV, who was pronounced dead at the scene. No one on the bus was seriously injured.

A girl who was on the bus says she and the eight other girls on the bus are part of the Skiatook girls basketball team. Their coach was driving the bus and was taken to the hospital for cuts and bruises.
